Okay, so I know I’m a bit late getting this up. I know, I’m working on it. And I know I’ve said this several times already, but I really am. I think I might be able to get a few reviews written this week so they should be coming soon!
January’s Owl Crate theme was fearsome fairies, and oh my was it fabulous!
Here’s what all was included:
Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
I have been looking forward to this book for so long! Holly Black’s Tithe was my very first book about faeries and it changed my world! So I was actually planning on pre-ordering, but I knew of course one of these book boxes would include it, so I waited and I was right! I have yet to read it, but it is on my TBR for this month. I also really like this cover. I mean, I love the standard cover, but this one is gorgeous and I feel like there are so few purple books it’s always nice to find one.
This wax burner is super cute! It’s covered it stars and crescent moons, which are much more visible irl than in this picture. I do have an electric burner, but I never quite understood the point of a wax burner that uses a candle – it’s a bit redundant. I mean, why not just burn a candle? I don’t know if I’ll really use this much.
To go with the wax burner, we got some wax to burn! This is gingerbread scented wax, and ohmygosh, it is such a perfect holiday season smell! Which means we got it right on time for me to hold on to it for almost a year before I’ll use it, haha. Well, I did actually burn it once, and I don’t recommend using it in a bedroom with the door closed. It get really strong really fast!
I love this bracelet! I’ve mentioned quite a few times on here that I don’t wear jewelry very much, but this is exactly my style! Black and white, and it just so happens to be book themed! The only downside is that it’s a bit big for my wrist. I don’t know if this style is supposed to be a looser fit, but it kind of bothers me to have stuff moving around on my skin (hence why I don’t wear much jewelry). I’m sure I’ll still wear it occasionally though!
This Red Riding Hood print is gorgeous! I love this artist’s style. I really need to find something to do with my art prints. They’re all sitting in a box right now, but I would love to display them. Maybe someday when I have my own place and hopefully a library haha.
And lastly, this absolutely beautiful pillow case! I. Love. This. Like, it’s weird to be so in love with a pillow case, but I want my head to sleep on this every night, haha! Sleeping Beauty was my favorite Disney princess movie when I was younger, and even today, I cannot stop Once Upon a Dream from getting stuck in my head and singing along and dancing to it. Plus, these colors go so well with my room! I just love it. 🙂
