WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Books to do a little reading plan update.
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
The Girls in the Picture started off a little slow, but now that the main characters have become friends it’s starting to get more interesting. Mary and Francis are some of the first people to get into movies, Mary an actress and Fran a writer. They both struggle with being a powerful and successful woman in a mans world.
It hasn’t been scary so far. I’m about a fourth of the way into it (btw, it is way longer than I thought it would be), and there’s been some feelings and creepy clown on the edges, but nothing major yet.
I liked 14th Deadly Sin more than the last few books in the Women’s Murder Club series. It seemed to be better written, though at this point I can’t remember which crimes took place. Wait, it’s coming back to me. Ok, yeah, they were actually pretty interesting. But these books do run together after a while.
Operation Hail Storm is not my normal type of read, but I actually really liked it. It’s about a bazillionaire who’s personal goal is to kill all the bad guys/terrrorists. The US government wants to get a bit of control over him, so they give him info in exchange for a mission and a CIA spy joining his team. There was a lot of really cool technology that sounds real, but I think might not be. Yet. There was some commentary about how warfare is changing with all the new technology, like using drones. I’ll have a full review coming soon.
Oh my gosh, was Before We Were Yours heartbreaking. It’s the story of a a group of children that were snatched by a children’s agency in Tennessee. This home would literally steal children from their families and sell/adopt them to well off families. It was horrible learning about what truly happened to children in these homes and that families actually had to go through this.
Hopefully this is the last time I list The Last Girl on Earth as up next. I will start it as soon as I finish The Girls in the Picture. I am super excited to read The Red Pyramid, as I’ve loved Rick Riordan’s other series so far.
