Owl Crate’s April theme was Shadows & Secrets, and boy was I excited for this box! It was said to include items inspired by Six of Crows, The Mortal Instruments, Harry Potter, The Young Elites and more, and I have read and enjoyed all of these (some more than others)!
This month’s book was:
Ace of Shades!
Summary from Goodreads:
Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets… and secrets hide in every shadow.
Enne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.
Frightened and alone, her only lead is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected—he’s a street lord and a con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn’t have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne’s offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.
Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi’s enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city…
And she’ll need to play.
I love this pillowcase! It matches sort of with the one the sent in a previous box, and it’s the right colors to match with my bedroom, which is pretty lucky for me! I use this all the time.
This coffee. Oh. My. Gosh. I went through this sample pretty quickly, and I am so grateful that there was a discount code included! I wish they had full sizes of this Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, but it was an Owl Crate Exclusive. They do have a Chocolate Salted Caramel though, so I’m still happy. Because I’m such a fan, check out Bones Coffee!
These are very cute. I’ve actually always loved engraved pencils, but had never bought myself any. My only problem is I don’t know where my pencil sharpener went, so it’ll be a while before I use them.
This sticker is very… cute? I don’t think that’s the best word for Adelina, but she kind of is. Like, creepy-cute.
I’m always happy to get soap in my book box, and this is no exception! It smells very yummy, and I will be using it soon.
I have to say, even though I knew what the book pick this month was going in, as soon as I saw this at the bottom of the box, I go so excited. I thought we somehow got Legendary like, 2 months early. But no. Just a sampler.
