WWW Wednesday [33]

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Books to do a little reading plan update.

The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

Moving on in the I Am Number Four universe, I started Generation One! It is really fun so far to meet all the new characters, and I love how diverse all of their backgrounds are.

Aru Shah is pretty good so far. I love the girl power! Even if they are just kids, they’re taking on an awesome quest and kicking butt! This one and Generation One are probably going to be on hold for the rest of the week, thanks to the Contemporary-a-thon.

I’ve just started No Place to Fall, so I really have nothing to say about it.

Recently Finished:

Immortal Reign was a fantastic ending to a wonderful series! I think the ending was maybe just a little too happy. I mean, Morgan Rhodes is obviously not George RR Martin. The rest of the series had quite a few major deaths, and I was not expecting to make it through this book without heartache. But I suppose I can live with it. 😛

I am really glad that the first time I read this series I did not read The Assassin’s Blade first – I read between HoF and QoS. This time around I decided to start with it, and I feel like it really did ruin some “surprise” and “curiosity” about Celaena’s past, who she is, and how she ended up where she did in ToG. It also did have some information that becomes relevant again in QoS and EoS, and so I think it was perfect right after HoF.

Throne of Glass. I’m kind of glad the contemporary-a-thon came along just now to interrupt my reread, as I need to make it last until KoA’s release. I mean, the end of EoS kind of killed me last time. I can’t read it again and have to wait again. But it was wonderful to come back to this world again! I still love Celaena and her obnoxiously cocky personality!

The Hate U Give was something. Like. Wow. As a white girl looking in, it’s really hard to believe things like this book are anywhere near real. And yet I know it is true. I see the news, I hear the stories, I read other books telling me the same thing. It’s… I don’t even know. I have a lot more to say about this book, and I will be posting a semi-long review in my Summer of Contemporaries post on Monday!

In Some Other Life was quite good. I often think about how different my life would be if I had made different choices, but like Kennedy, I’ve never really considered how it would affect everyone around me. In this book we see Kennedy gets exactly what she wished for, but it turns out to be not at all what she was expecting, and maybe the different choice she should have made wasn’t the one she was obsessing over.

Up Next:

I will finally be reading Ship It for real, probably tomorrow. For real. Then continuing my Harry Potter reread with GoF, and if get through Generation One after the Contemporary-a-thon, I’ll be reading the Oracle Queen and The Young Queens.
