Happy first (full) day of fall! I’m only about 3 months behind posting unboxings haha… but I’m catching up!
The featured books for June were:
My choices were:
- The Book of Essie by Meghan Maclean Weir
- Little & Lion by Brandy Colbert
- The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X. R. Pan
So far I have read both The Astonishing Color of After and Little & Lion, and I really loved both! The Astonishing Color of After was a surprisingly beautiful take on death and grief (I know, I wasn’t thinking that could be a thing either!), and Little & Lion really explored a lot of difficult topics – race, mental illness, sexuality, religion, non-standard families, and personal identity – and it was all very well done. I will have longer reviews up for both tomorrow in my Summer Contemporaries post!
I was hoping to get to The Book of Essie this summer as well, but I just did not have time. I do really hope to get to it soon though, it sounds fascinating!
What books did you choose from Book of the Month this (or any) month? What has been your favorite pick so far?
